ABOUT RAIN SHADOW CONSULTING
Based on Orcas Island, Washington, Rain Shadow has been providing professional tree care, line clearance, forestry, consulting, and ecological restoration services in San Juan County since 2005. Our sister company, Orcas Biomass, produces and sells quality lumber and mulch products from recycled woody material.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage a dynamic office environment including HR, administrative, budgetary, and operational business needs
• Manage the office budget and expenses, and prepare regular reports
• Work closely with contracted financial manager
• Maintain and update office policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with legal and company standards
• Organize and schedule meetings, appointments, events, and travel arrangements
• Maintain the office equipment and supplies, and arrange for repairs or replacements when necessary
• Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, phone calls, emails, and visitors
• Liaise with management, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders
• Create and maintain a positive and productive work environment
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or related field
• 5 yrs. proven experience as an Office Manager or similar role
• 3-5 yrs. proven experience in Business Management roles
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Adobe, QuickBooks, Gusto
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills
• Friendly, positive attitude, inclusive minded
• Experience with bookkeeping and budgeting
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
• Experience with scheduling multiple crews with diverse jobs and complicated logistics
• Some environmental science related knowledge and education is a plus
The job is starting as a full-time salaried position based on 34 hours/week; (9-5 M-Th, 8-12 alt Fridays/remote Fridays) and is place-based at our Orcas office. The position is supported by a part-time office administrator. Medium-term (6-9 months) housing available.
PAY AND BENEFITS
• $44-68k Salary, DOE

• $2,000 sign-on bonus ($200 at sign-on, $1,800 after 12 months worked).
