Rain Shadow’s team includes an ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ) arborist and an expert in tree pathology and forest health. We have been specializing in hazard tree assessment for over 14 years and have completed projects for UW Friday Harbor Labs, San Juan County Parks, San Juan Preservation Trust, Orcas School District, OPALCO, San Juan Country Land Bank, OPAL, SJC Public Works, and many private landowners. We can provide ground-based and aerial assessments of all types of trees and give sound recommendations on how to mitigate any hazards. Know the condition of your trees and what to do about them!

Site Assessments & Restoration Design

Understanding the unique features of a site and restoring degraded habitats has been a core service of Rain Shadow since its founding. We offer a wide variety of descriptive ecological work as well as restoration services such as ecological assessments, conservation management plans, invasive species monitoring and control, shoreline restoration, tree planting, native plant establishment, and long-term monitoring.

Forest Management Plans

We have been writing Forest Management Plans for over 14 years for landowners in San Juan County. Our plans meet and exceed the standards of the WA Department of Natural Resources and the San Juan County Assessor’s Office for Designated Forestland (DFL) and Timber Open Space (TOS).
