The crew did a great job – very professional, efficient and with a work ethic that I haven’t seen for a while…They were all willing and even anxious to share their passion for what they were doing. I have had the good fortune to observe Rain Shadow Consulting during three projects: Garry Oak restoration (as a volunteer), forest health management on logged-over land (as a board member for a Community Land Trust), and forest health inspection (as a land owner.) These efforts ranged from a single forest walk to multi-year projects in which Rain Shadow Consulting planned, organized, and supervised many tasks involving local paid staff, AmeriCorps volunteers, and varieties of equipment. I have had the pleasure of working with Rain Shadow Consulting over the past several years. They have assessed our land in regards to health of the forest, helped develop a fire plan that would reduce fuels around the immediate area of the house and driveway, and worked to restore the health of the forest. They also helped to open up our view by trimming trees in a way so that they looked natural without sacrificing their overall health. Carson has been a thoughtful guide, an organized consultant, and an inspiring forester. He discussed the needs of our family, encouraged me to get our long term family goals in the plan, wrote the rest of the forestry plan after a careful survey of our land, and then managed the entire process with the County so that we met the deadlines. He’s a good listener while using time efficiently. I’m just glad I had such a competent resource person nearby.
